Almost always the vent. Gradient’s troubleshooting list includes a blocked chimney system, vent lengths and elbow counts, wind blowing directly onto the vent termination, and termination placement. In a Calgary winter the usual culprit is snow or ice building up on the outside termination. Gradient’s own homeowner guidance tells owners to monitor and remove any ice buildup from exterior pipes. Clearing it is something you can safely do yourself.
